I was reminded this week about joy and contentment. It was two things I really needed to see and hear because lately I have been like the cannibals who eat people; I'm fed up with myself. Too much navel gazing and pity partying going on. Makes my stomach hurt.
The first event was a couple of kids playing in puddles (yes, it actually rained in Texas this week!) You know how kids act in puddles, don't you? They look, then touch, then put something in it. Next, it's part of the foot and then the whole foot and before long they are splashing and the clothes they had on are soaked! They didn't notice and didn't care, although mom will! They were oblivious to the storm that passed and the distant thunder and lightning. These two whipper snappers were enjoying the moment.
The next reminder was this quote from Simple Truths: "Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning to dance in the rain!" It's not about the storms in our lives and the adversities we face, it's about our attitude and gratitude of just being allowed to enjoy life. It's the simple things. It's being thankful for our freedom, having the ability to see, walk, drive, give and receive love. It's about people. It's about being thankful for friends who connect and stay connected. Living is about puddles and splashing even in the midst of thunder and lighting.
The economy has had it's impact on me financially, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually. Just being honest. How about you? Are you dancing in the rain or just sitting in the puddle? I can't dance (white men can't jump either) but I can splash.
