The Best Question Ever

In reading through some previous blog responses on the biggest challenges people have to deal with, the responses center around time management and people. How do you better manage your time and manage people? Managing time is the easier task of the two. Managing people is like trying to herd cats, which would be torture to me since I am not a fan of them. Cats, not people.

But I have one question for you to consider.  If you will ask yourself this one question, I believe you will be enlightened not only on time management, but also in dealing with people, managing finances, decision making, parenting, marriage, bottom line business results and a plethora of other problems we're presented with on a daily basis.  I didn't say this one question will allow you to solve all of your problems, but I do believe it will enlighten you so that you can make a revolutionary approach to doing something about the world you live in.

From Andy Stanley's book, The Best Question Ever here is that one question:

In light of my past experiences, my current responsibilities, and my future hopes and dreams, what is the wisest thing to do?

Isn't that a GREAT question to ask yourself? What if you asked yourself that question before making a decision on how to invest your time? Or about your finances and purchasing something? Or when an employee is not being responsible? You don't have to act on your answers, but just ask the one question first.

What would you do differently in the areas of your life if you were to evaluate through the lens of "...your past experiences, your current responsibilities, and your future hopes and dreams, in order to do the wisest thing?" And it's okay to ask someone wiser what their thoughts are if you don't happen to know yourself.

What do you think? Great question, huh? Once you ask the one question and get an answer, guess what?

You are halfway there.

The hardest part begins with actually doing something.

Ron - For me, asking the question gets me to do the hard of doing something. If it is the wisest thing, then I better be doing it and not avoiding it!

How profound. I do it and I see people do it all the time. We let personality conflicts cloud the situation and dictate a response based on everything but what is best for us!

Thanks for sharing
