The Tragedy and Sadness of Making Bad Decisions

Like so many, I was angered and saddened at the terrible debacle of bad decisions made this week in the wake of the awful situation(s) with the University of Pennsylvania football team and especially Joe Paterno. In the wake of all that has happened it reminded me of what being a true leader encompasses;

  1. Wisdom.
  2. Character.
  3. Integrity which includes values and principles.
  4. Self Awareness
  5. Decisions made or not made.

Each one of these characteristics is the result of a disciplined and prudent life; doing what is right and just and fair.

Leadership, like one's attitude, is not a result of random circumstances, but how you respond to them, and the decisions you make on a daily basis.

Not sure you can do without one of the above characteristics and be a leader. What do you think? Maybe you can think of others?

Accountability would be another great one as well! I have far more respect for a leader when he is able to hold himself to the same standards as he would expect from his constituents.
